Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi contract signed

We’ve signed the alliance delivery contract for our role in Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi, alongside our partners NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and AECOM. Together as an Alliance and in partnership with Taranaki Whānui and Ngāti Toa, we can now deliver the State Highway 2 Melling Transport Improvements. This is a Road of Regional Significance, which will provide a safer, more resilient and accessible transport system in Lower Hutt. The project will include delivery of a new grade-separated interchange and bridge over the Hutt River, improved walking, cycling paths and better access to public transport, including relocation of the Melling train station and its park and ride facilities.
Site establishment will begin in September, with detailed design, demolition and early works such as ground investigations to continue over the next few months. Main construction will then follow. This is part of the wider Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi programme, which includes flood protection work and city centre infrastructure upgrades being delivered by Greater Wellington Regional Council and Hutt City Council.
