NAWIC Awards success
Fletcher Construction had another impressive night at this year’s National Association of Women in Construction NZ (NAWIC) awards.
Modi Chen won the Excellence in Health, Safety and Wellbeing Award, while Brian Perry Civil’s Cheryl Reid and Lucy Clark were awarded highly commended in their categories of Excellence in Construction Organisation and Specialist Plant and Machinery Operators Excellence Award, respectively.
Fletcher Construction CE Phillip Boylen says it was a proud night for the team. “It’s fantastic to see our wāhine being recognised for the exceptional skills they demonstrate in our industry.”
Modi is doing ground-breaking work in Health and Safety, and Cheryl has shown huge commitment to building the skills of the Brian Perry Civil team. It was brilliant to have Lucy being awarded highly commended in the inaugural Specialist Plant and Machinery Operators Excellence Award.
As well as being well represented by our women on the night, we were also a proud sponsor of the awards. This is an important way to acknowledge the important and growing role women play in the construction industry.
Fletcher Construction was also represented by Maria Vaefaga from the Engineering Services team who was a finalist in the Student Excellence Award and Tanya Claxton from Higgins who was a finalist in the Specialist Plant & Machinery Operators Excellence Award.
