CCNZ awards success

Team Fletcher scored big wins in this year’s Civil Contractor New Zealand (CCNZ) awards in the national and regional levels.

During the CCNZ national conference and awards ceremonies held in Invercargill, the Ara Tūhono - Puhoi to Warkworth Motorway won the category for projects over $100m. Our joint venture with Acciona extended the four-lane Northern Motorway (SH1) 18.5km from the Johnstone’s Hill Tunnels to just north of Warkworth for the NX2 Northern Express Group (NX2), on behalf of NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.

Brian Perry Civil’s Awatea project which remediated major Cyclone Gabrielle damage on an Auckland cliff face received the Highly Commended award in the $2-5M category. BPC’s Taranaki Street Pump Station project, delivered for Wellington Water on a tight site beside one of the capital’s busiest intersections, was named Highly Commended in the $5-20M category. BPC Supervisor Jethro Staite was awarded the Z Energy Personal Improvement Award.

At the Waikato CCNZ awards, Higgins East Waikato Network Outcomes Contract (EWNOC) team won the category four award. This acknowledges their work on SH25 & SH25A for NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi during - and after - the extreme weather events of summer 2022/23. EWNOC also took home the award for the SH29 Kaimai Asphalt Resurfacing and Maintenance Project in 2024 on three sites delivered between 25 to 29 February which showcases the Waikato Team’s successful collaboration on one of the key risk areas in the East Waikato state highway network.

And at the Wellington Wairarapa awards Brian Perry Civil’s Te Matapihi Wellington Library Strengthening Works project – time-critical works to strengthen and re-pile a site located inside the Wellington Library – received a merit award in the projects over $3m category. The region’s first Emerging Leader Award was presented to BPC’s Jethro Staite.
